Have you ever wondered what new insights might find if gravity were removed from your research?
On Earth, gravity pulls matter downward, causing convection and sedimentation due to density differences. These gravitational forces can influence the structure and function of materials and cells, sometimes masking the phenomena essential to your study.
The unique environment of microgravity, where gravitational effects are minimized, enables us to obtain data and samples with shapes, purity, and precision that are difficult to achieve on Earth.
In microgravity, the nonexistence of convection and sedimentation allows a stable concentration gradient during crystal growth. This stable environment enables us to yield high-resolution structural crystals, and even to produce different space group crystals than those grown on Earth.
In a microgravity environment, cells no longer perceive the pull of gravity. As a result, significant changes occur in cellular structures and functions, including proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, adhesion/migration characteristics, gene expression, and signal transduction.
In space, exposure to stressors such as microgravity and radiation may accelerate cellular aging and cancer progression significantly faster than on Earth. Utilizing this environment can speed up pathological research into aging and cancer, as well as the evaluation of drug efficacy.
The microgravity environment enables us to keep liquids and solids floating in space without any containers. Since no container is required during the melting and solidification process, it becomes possible to acquire high-purity physical property data and grow high-quality crystals.
Microgravity offers a wide range of applications across life sciences, materials engineering, and commercial projects.

Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo” can be accessed through two ways: a public solicitation program and a fee-based utilization program. Private contractors handle the application process for the fee-based program. This program offers greater flexibility and the option for confidentiality compared to a public-call program.
Space BD is a selected private contractor for the fee-based program. We provide one-stop service from initial concept development and on-orbit operation to sample return.
We provide guidance on project feasibility and the most suitable implementation approach.
We prepare the required application documents, including a project overview, and submit them to JAXA for evaluation.
We coordinate mission details including technical feasibility, schedule and cost together with JAXA.
Once the mission details are finalized, we will formalize the contract and move forward with mission preparation.
In principle, we provide comprehensive support or handle complex procedures and safety reviews on your behalf.
We conduct safety verification in accordance with JAXA requirements for all items to be sent to ISS. Our team handles the entire process, from test planning to execution.
We prepare astronaut procedures in compliance with spaceflight operational standards.
We handle the entire logistics:
- Export/import documentation
- Transportation
- Launch site operations
Your payload and samples are transported to the ISS aboard a cargo spacecraft.
We monitor on-orbit operations from the ground. In emergencies, we ensure seamless support and coordination with all relevant agencies.
Once returned to Earth, samples are recovered and delivered directly to your facility.
